SomaticHealing Group Workshops (program)
We use the concepts of somatic therapy and movement therapy to improve the physical and mental wellness of individuals young and old.
Somatic therapy is a type of mental health therapy that focuses on the mind-body connection, using body-centered techniques to help individuals process and release emotional trauma stored within the body, primarily by increasing awareness of physical sensations and integrating them with emotional experiences; it often involves practices like breath-work, movement, and mindfulness to achieve healing.
Many syndromes of neurodivergence (autism, intellectual disability due to underlying medical condition, ADHD, etc) and mental illness syndromes (trauma, PTSD, anxiety) lead to heightened sensory sensitivities. For these individuals, it can be very distressing to understand why one’s body is reacting adversely to otherwise nonthreatening stimuli. This is where somatic therapy comes in. Somatic therapy, as a therapeutic modality returning the focus from the mind/thoughts to the body through movement, meditation, and breathing, has been shown to improve stress, anxiety, and PTSD in both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals.
Provide holistic healing through movement therapy, meditation, and breathwork to promote stress reduction, trauma relief, and emotional well-being.
